The Summer of 2019/2020 has been a brutal one to say the least.
The devastating bushfires this season has seen the destruction of over 6000 homes, 186,000 square kilometres of land, killed 34 people and the most staggering figure of all – the death of over 1 billion animals. Now we’re facing the new challenge of tremendous flooding bringing with it, equal parts destruction and danger.
As Australians part of a tight knit community, we have seen, felt and heard stories of the impact of this disaster. We couldn’t sit back and do nothing.
We’ve reached out to our favourite Stockholm artist, whom you all know and love, to help us with an initiative to give back to those struggling the most, without a voice - our wildlife.
Peytil has generously donated two purposely created artworks to pay tribute to our most loved national faces – the Koala and Kangaroo.
Throughout the season we have seen in particular, the struggles these two species have been through and watched helplessly which is why we chose these national icons as the centre of our initiative.
We will be releasing 150 editions of each animal, with all costs covered by us at Arthouse Co / The Art and Framing Company and 100% of the print sales – yes the whole 100%! donated to WIRES.
